An anesthetist is largely responsible for the successful outcome of any operation conducted under general anesthesia, since this specialist monitors the coordination of vital functions of the body of a person under anesthesia. Therefore, an anesthesiologist-resuscitator should have good knowledge of the fundamental principles of medicine, anatomy and physiology, as well as the pharmacodynamics of medicines used in anesthesia – in order to correctly determine the slightest deviation in the work of organs during surgical interventions and take appropriate measures in a timely manner. It should be noted that general anesthesia and regional pain relief through spinal and epidural anesthesia can be performed only by an anesthesiologist. A medical resident gains knowledge of anesthesia and management of vital body functions during surgical interventions in the training process.
The educational residency programme "Anesthesiology and resuscitation" is developed for people with higher medical education, aimed at training highly qualified specialists in the field of specialized medical assistance on the specialization, organization of the diagnostic and treatment process (selection of treatment methods, diagnosis and provision of medicines to patients). Students analyze clinical events and this provides the opportunity to obtain a wealth of clinical experience during residency training.
