About the profession

The Master's programme is aimed to prepare highly qualified specialists for industrial, scientific, pedagogical and management activities in the field of veterinary and sanitary expertise meeting modern international educational, scientific and professional requirements.

The programme includes: conducting veterinary and sanitary examination of raw materials and slaughter products of animal origin; Execution of state veterinary and sanitary control during export-import operations; Realization of control of biological safety of animal raw materials and products of its processing; Veterinary and sanitary control at processing enterprises, aimed at ensuring the human and animals safety of from slaughter products transmitted diseases; Organization, planning and control of veterinary and sanitary measures; Veterinary and sanitary control of the quality of raw materials of animal and vegetable origin, the technology of production of feed for agricultural, domestic animals and poultry; Organization of the implementation of veterinary and sanitary measures at the state, regional, city levels.

Educational process

Infrastructure consists of a resource center including information centers of several international organizations (European Union and the UN); the laboratories equipped with all necessary facilities for educational process, computer labs, classrooms with multimedia equipment and videoconference facilities, branch division of the Scientific library. Students will have access to numerous electronic information databases.

Within the framework of this educational programme, students will learn to conduct veterinary and sanitary examination to ensure biological safety of raw materials and products of animal and vegetable origin. They will learn how to prevent anthropozoonosis at processing industry enterprises. They will be able to scientifically substantiate and develop veterinary and sanitary measures for export-import operations and in emergencies. Students will be prepared to ensure the safety and quality of raw materials and products of biological origin.

State veterinary supervision at subordinated objects, Veterinary sanitation at enterprises, Microbiological safety of raw materials and products of animal and vegetable origin, Mathematical modeling, Safety of raw materials and products of animal and vegetable origin, diagnostics of infectious diseases and pathologies, business foreign language, etc.

Practical training

During practical training students will undertake internships at the large agricultural enterprises and the leading manufacturing and scientific enterprises engaged in the veterinary and sanitary activity as a part of human and animal health protection and production of safe raw materials of animal and vegetable origin.

Given the existing cooperation, foreign internships are held in institutions and commissions of FAO, Rome; the establishments of the Veterinary and Sanitary Commission of Italy (meat and milk processing factories, laboratories); the largest Austrian meat processing company Matimex and others.

The Department of Veterinary Medicine, ATI, RUDN, which produces veterinary experts, has direct links with employers. Internships are held at potential workplaces; students will attend exhibitions and conferences and communicate with employers directly.
