About the profession

The programme is designed to prepare highly qualified, competitive, innovation-oriented specialists in the field of veterinary medicine. The programme focuses on the application of knowledge in practice of veterinarian.

Educational process

Training takes place in modern educational laboratories, computer labs with specialized software, classrooms with multimedia equipment and facilities for webinars and videoconferences.

Major subjects

 Anatomy; cytology, histology and embryology; physiology; pathological physiology; pharmacology; breeding; feeding; hygiene of animals; toxicology; clinical diagnostics; internal non-communicable diseases; the general and private surgery; obstetrics, gynecology and andrology; parasitology and parasitic diseases; epidemiology and infectious diseases; pathological anatomy and forensic veterinary expertise; veterinary-sanitary expertise; organization of a veterinary business.

During the final years of study, students will have the opportunity to choose a specialization:

“Clinical veterinary medicine”: studying the major anatomical and physiological parameters of various species of animals under normal and pathological conditions; etiology, classification, syndromatics, pathological and anatomical picture of noncontagious and contagious diseases; an effective means of diagnosis, therapy and prevention of animal diseases; features of providing obstetric and gynecological care, surgical treatment, emergency care, resuscitation and intensive care, etc.

“Veterinary and Sanitary Surveillance”: studying normative and legislative documents on procurement, including import, processing, storage and sale of various products controlled by the veterinary service; the procedure of veterinary and sanitary expertise, laboratory analysis of animal raw materials, production and food products in the market, customs, border and transport veterinary stations, etc.

Practical training

Students will have the opportunity to gain practical skills during the manufacturing and research practices at the leading enterprises engaged in veterinary and veterinary-sanitary activities. Successful students will have the opportunity to participate in international cooperation programmes and internships in the clinics and institutions of the Association of Veterinarians of Italy; in the Center for Veterinary Neuroscience and Neurosurgery in Austria; in the Hospital of Horse Diseases in Munich, Germany.

The Department of Veterinary Medicine, ATI, RUDN, which prepares specialists, has direct links with employers.  Works experience internships are held in potential workplaces. Students will attend exhibitions and conferences and communicate with employers directly.
