Educational process

The Master’s degree “International Law” specialization program was opened in 1993 with participation of leading scientists in the sphere of international law, such as prof. I. Blischenko, prof. V. Shatrov, prof. Yu. Barsegov, prof. N. Barchukova, prof. V. Kartashkin, and associate professor N. Petrenko. Well known not only in Russia but abroad experts in international law have been training both legal practitioners and legal scholars in the best fundamental traditions and in step with the times.

The Department of International Law offers students the possibility of completing a master's degree in international law, having almost 20 years of experience providing training of qualified specialists. The best specialists in theory and practice of international law implement this program. Among them are Merited Lawyer of the Russian Federation prof. V. Kartashkin, who is also a member of the Human Rights Council Advisory Committee and prof. A. Abashidzer, Vice-Chairman of the Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights.

Practical training

Traditionally, all students of Master’s Degree specialization program “International Law” undergo practical training at the Department of International Law in the form of a teaching practicum. Among other places for practical training are the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, The Intersputnik International Organization of Space Communications, the State Space Corporation ROSCOSMOS, Russian Association of Indigenous Peoples of the North (RAIPON), and the International Committee of the Red Cross. Such training is very important for acquiring practical knowledge in the sphere of international law, as well as business communication in international organizations.

Career

Knowledge acquired in the process of study on the master’s degree specialization program “International Law” may apply for work in international organizations, embassies, consulates, in public service (for example, in the Office of the Russian Federation Representative at European Court of Human Rights under the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation); as well as in facilitating the filing of complaints to the European Court of Human Rights, International Tribunals, the Registry of the International Court of Justice, etc.
