About the profession

Relatively, lawyers can be classified into several groups. Some of them work for the government — furthermore, in other sectors: in law enforcement bodies, in government agencies and municipalities as well as in government companies. Others prefer commercial structures where they are involved in drawing up of contracts, support in transactions and legal proceedings, checking co-signatories, etc. Still other alumni of the Institute of Law are employed by law firms and offices. Alumni of the postgraduate course of the Institute of Law have an opportunity to use their potential working in government entities, including the federal ones, in large law offices, as well as continue scientific and educational activities both at Russian and foreign universities.

Educational process

In this specialty's curriculum, postgraduate students study constitutional legal regulation, foreign constitutional legal systems, division of jurisdictions of federal authorities and state authorities of constituent entities of the Russian Federation, gain competence in the sphere of constitutional, municipal and electoral legislation, jurisdiction of local self-government bodies, as well as analysis of forms and methods of constitutional control, constitutional justice, and their relationships of activities of the bodies of state supervision, control and monitoring.

The research component of the program involves constitutional legal notions, categories, concepts and institutions characterizing essential features and peculiarities of the constitutional law, constitutional litigation of the Russian Federation and other countries, their sources and states, and legal order in this sphere.

Practical training

Practical training is a mandatory component of the post-graduate curriculum. It consists in such practical activities such as teaching certain subjects, class activity management, scientific and methodical work on a subject, and acquisition of necessary teaching skills. The aim of teaching practicum is the study of basics of pedagogical, educational and methodical work at the institutions of higher education; mastering teaching skills in conducting classes on various subjects from the specialization curriculum. The main objective of teaching practicum is to show the results of comprehensive psychological, pedagogical, socio-economic and IT readiness of a post-graduate for teaching activities. Besides, post-graduates have access to fieldwork in government agencies, Russian and international companies.

Career

The profound knowledge and research experience gained during the postgraduate course allow our alumni to conduct further research in constitutional law, comparative law as well as other branches of legal science. Alumni of the Institute of Law have an opportunity to do the analytical work in government entities, including the federal ones (the Federation Council and the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation etc.), in large law offices, international organizations, as well as continue scientific and educational activities both at Russian and foreign universities.
