About the profession

A graduate of the programme on this specialization practices the skills in the elimination of ear, nose and throat defects. Treatment can be conducted conservatively or surgically. At the same time, the specialist can perform those and other manipulations independently. The programme is implemented with the use of various forms of training, including advanced electronic educational technologies, the possibility of mastering practical skills in a multidisciplinary hospital under the guidance of experienced specialists. The training of modern practical skills is supplemented by the simulation education course. As for the further development, the residents have the opportunity to enroll in the postgraduate programme that opens up broad prospects for self-fulfillment. Future specialists can devote their life to science, engage in teaching activities or be a successful practicing physician: specialists with an academic degree are highly valued on the labor market.

Training process

The educational residency programme "Otorhinolaryngology" is developed for people with higher medical education, aimed at training highly qualified specialists in the field of diagnosis and therapeutic treatment of ENT diseases, the implementation of more complex procedures. Residents get skills in doing surgeries in case of abscesses in ears or nose, making a puncture of the maxillary sinus, nasal rinsing, removing a hematoma, cerumen impaction, polyps. Training is practically oriented and aimed at the formation of system knowledge and professional competences that allow conducting medical activities.

Internship

Medical residents are distributed to the units of the clinical sites of the department, where, under the guidance of professors of the department, they have the opportunity both to expand their knowledge and see its application in practice. Students analyze clinical events and this provides the opportunity to obtain a wealth of clinical experience during residency training.

Problems in the field of otorhinolaryngology are found in both children and adults. Therefore, such specialists are always in demand on the labor market.
