About the profession

After examining the oral cavity of a patient, only a dental therapist can determine a correct diagnosis, cure dental caries, pulpitis, periodontitis of any complexity, prepare the mouth for prosthetics, remove the inflamed nerve, perfectly restore the shape of a broken tooth. Patients, who care about the health and state of their mouths, visit this specialist at least once a half a year in order to prevent the development of caries. This specialist should also be consulted in case of bleeding or red gums, the pain that occurred for no apparent reason, when teeth are sensitive to the temperature of food.

Training process

The educational residency programme "Therapeutic dentistry" is developed for people with higher medical education, aimed at training highly qualified specialists in the field of the treatment of caries, pulpitis, parodontitis, filling and teeth restoration, for independent work in public healthcare institutions or in private practice. Training is practically oriented and aimed at the formation of system knowledge and professional competences that allow conducting therapeutic activities.

Internship

After having honed the skills at the simulation courses, residents are distributed to the units of dental clinics in Moscow, where, under the guidance of professors of the department, they have the opportunity both to expand their knowledge and see its application in practice.

Career

A graduate of the residency programme is a highly qualified specialist, who can apply modern high-tech methods of diagnosis and treatment and carry out therapeutic, diagnostic, research activities, engage in private medical practice. Graduates of the programme have the opportunity to work in public hospitals, private clinics, medical secondary schools, higher educational institutions of medical specialization, scientific organizations, polyclinics, consultative and diagnostic centers. Upon completion of the residency programme, the students have the opportunity to enroll in the postgraduate programme on the specialization “Dentistry”.
