About the profession

In recent decades, pharmacy has undergone significant changes, which are primarily due to the appearance of new medicines of various chemical classes in the domestic pharmaceutical market, the introduction of international standards of creation of medicines and management of their quality in domestic pharmacy. Modern regulatory documentation for medicines is developed with due account for the world's achievements in the field of synthesis and analysis of medicinal and auxiliary substances. In international forums, pharmacists are constantly discussing a problem of harmonization of pharmacopoeias of different countries. United Europe unified the actions of pharmaceutical companies of different states in the creation and quality control of medicines within the framework of the European Pharmacopoeia (EP). This is especially important in the era of improving analytical instrument-making. The development and application of perfect analytical methods that enable to screen potential chemical compounds and choose the most effective and safe of them, control various impurities in the final product, for example, residual organic solvents or toxic optical isomers. In this regard, the introduction of the express method – infrared (IR) spectrometry in the near range – into the quality control system of medicines is an undisputed achievement. This method allows finding falsified medicines based on spectral libraries after appropriate statistical processing of spectra without opening the package.

Training process

The training process includes learning disciplines and sections related to the ways of creating new medicines, the development of pharmacopoeial monographs, medicines quality control, mechanisms and binding targets of medicines.

Internship

The students undertake teaching and scientific-research internships.
