About the profession
At the present time, it has become generally accepted that the ecological security of any state is an essential part of its national security. This is primarily due to the low efficiency of the use of natural resources in the world, leading, on the one hand, to the depletion of their reserves, and on the other hand to the accumulation of a large amount of toxic waste in the process of their extraction, processing and use, which threatens the existence of humanity itself. In this regard, great importance in the whole world is given to the development of ecological knowledge, rational environmental management and environmental protection. Ecology is one of those sciences that bring together in one system the data obtained by different sciences, and is designed to reflect the real relationship between the diverse phenomena of the real world. In modern ecology, the range of issues under discussion requires the involvement of knowledge of biology, chemistry, geography, soil science, physics, mathematics, geology and other sciences. In other words, we need the interaction of all disciplines that represent modern natural science, that is, the further development of interdisciplinary connections. Moreover, the modern state of society requires the integration of natural science and social science. The combination of environmental knowledge with economic and legal knowledge is of great importance for the successful implementation of the concept of sustainable development of society.
The objects of professional activity of graduates of Master’s studies are: natural, anthropogenic, climatic, environmental, economic, industrial, social, territorial public systems and structures at the global, national, regional and local levels, as well as state planning, control, monitoring, examination of environmental components of all forms of economic activities; education and the health of the population, demographic processes, sustainable development programs at all levels.
The program is aimed at covering the issues of organization and control of the use of natural resource potential. Like other master's programs, its purpose – the development of students’ personal qualities and the formation of general cultural (general scientific, social, personal, instrumental) competencies, training of highly qualified specialists possessing universal and specialized competencies, in demand on the labour market. During 4 semesters of training, students master the general competencies for master-ecologists and undergo special training on the issues of monitoring and examination of environmental safety when using natural resources. Hands-on training allows one to consolidate one’s skills.
