About the profession
The rapid development of technical means in the twentieth century predetermined the emergence of a new profession – a specialist in control technology. The creation of electronic computers in the 1940-ies and their continuous improvement observed to this day have become a decisive factor for the formation of a new profession as one of the most sought-after ones. Today, specialists in control systems are engaged in solving a wide range of tasks, such as computer-integrated manufacturing, design and creation of systems of control of transport, ships, aircraft, including unmanned aircraft, the creation of measuring and control devices, the creation of recognition systems, the development of gas distribution systems, as well as the systems of automation of nuclear power plants and spacecraft, etc.
During classes a student is an active participant in group and individual projects, interactive and case study methods, video conferencing and webinars. The laboratory and research work of students is carried out in specialized scientific training laboratories equipped with modern equipment, among which a laboratory with industrial robots of the Japanese concern Kawasaki should be mentioned. These robots are used for cargo transfer and manipulation, applying adhesive and sealant on the surface of parts. As part of lab practicals, students master the basic principles of control and programming of industrial robotic manipulators by the example of KawasakiFS03N robot group. The profession-oriented material is learnt through the following disciplines:

Students are given the opportunity to undertake industrial-technological internships, which are based on the organization and planning of industrial-technological activities, collection, processing, analysis and systematization of the planet-scale scientific technical information. As part of the internship, students gain experience in the use of standard professional software products focused on solving design, technological and scientific tasks. The internship is conducted in research laboratories, research centers, including in the Earth Remote Sensing Center of the Institute of Space Technologies of the Engineering Academy of RUDN University (IST EA RUDN) and the Flight Control Training Center of the IST EA RUDN, as well as at industrial enterprises, in IT companies and research centers.

After school graduation I had to choose a field of study. Of many options, I was most interested in the field of information technologies, because today it is the most topical one and it opens up great opportunities in the future. Therefore, in 2014 I enrolled in the field of study “Control in Technical Systems”. During the four years of my undergraduate studies I have mastered several programming languages, such as Delphi, C#, Python, Matlab, and learned how to work with databases. I also gained knowledge in electrical engineering, control theory, machine learning and automated systems. I would like to mention the excellent academic staff: each teacher has skills and professionalism in his/her field and tries to explain the material to students in simple terms.
At school I liked exact sciences: Mathematics and Physics. I have always wanted to acquire knowledge in the field of information technologies. To receive fundamental education I learned Russian, successfully graduated from the Preparatory Department of RUDN University, received a bachelor's degree in Control in Technical Systems. During my studies at the Engineering Academy at the Department of Mechanics and Mechatronics I acquired knowledge in the field of automated systems, electrical engineering, mechatronics and got familiar with such programming languages as Matlab, Python, Assembler, Labview, Kawassaki robot control platform. As part of the research activities, I conducted research on the development of methods of brake control of wheeled vehicles (wheel braking models have been developed). Methods of PID control synthesis have been approved. An important practical result has been obtained through scientific research – a vehicle braking distance was reduced. The research results are published in scientific journals. Now I continue my research activities within the master’s degree programme. Currently, I am working on my thesis in wheel management system optimization. This will improve traffic safety. Later I want to write my doctoral thesis in this area and achieve successful results in my research. I am thankful to the management of the Engineering Academy for the opportunity to receive an excellent education and achieve high results in science.
I have been interested in computational technologies and artificial intelligence since I was a senior student of the Physics and Mathematics Lyceum. Actually, I initially enrolled for a bachelor's degree programme in this field of study and upon graduation I realized that I can fulfill my potential in this area, doing what I like most.
A field of study "Control in Technical Systems" is interesting for its multidisciplinarity, close linkage to "advanced" scientific knowledge in the field of computational technologies and in a group of management sciences. Perhaps, due to such multidirectionality and inclusiveness of the subjects of disciplines, everyone interested in the topic can learn about many interesting facts in the learning process. Quality equipment used in the training process upon the programme and for scientific experiments can also be a decisive factor in choosing this field of study.
