About the profession
The profession of ecologist is new in comparison with many others. However, each of us wants to breathe healthy air, drink clean water, know about the quality of products. Therefore, already now this profession is referred to as" professions of the future", the nearest one. It's no secret that the ecological situation in many cities is at least unfavourable. Every day we hear about the problems associated with climate change, and the disappearance of more and more species of animals and plants. These problems are solved by specialists who received an education in the field of "Ecology and Environmental Management".
Despite the fact that the first courses of studying in the bachelor's degree program are given to the "general", basic disciplines ("Physics", several courses of chemistry, mathematical disciplines, as well as social and humanitarian), from the first courses the students get acquainted with professional activities and professional ecological assessments. The course "Introduction to the speciality", developed by the team of the Faculty of Ecology, gives the student an idea of one’s future professional activity and provides an opportunity to choose for oneself the most interesting directions. Senior courses include professional-oriented disciplines that enable the student to acquire the necessary practical skills in the field of environmental assessments, environmental management, and environmental protection.

Practical lessons introduce students to the methods of environmental assessments, approaches to environmental control, work on the organization of protected natural areas, etc. An important moment is communication of students with leading specialists, master classes, participation in all-Russian and international professional competitions, communication with potential employers forms professional competence of future specialists.
Annually students have internships studying natural complexes of the Moscow region, Crimea and other regions. Professional practices familiarize students with the activities of environmentalists in research organizations, enterprises, design and consulting companies, as well as in public authorities.
Having successfully mastered the educational program, you will be able to work as an ecologist, a specialist in labour protection and environmental protection, an expert in the ecological laboratory, a researcher, and others.
From the position of assistant, deputy or trainee, a graduate of the RUDN can become the Head of the Department of Ecology, the Head of the Department of HSE (occupational safety and environmental safety), the Director for Environmental Protection, the Head of the Project Team, etc.
