The ecology or the economy? Often economic and environmental interests are seen as the opposite. However, we are increasingly confronted with the fact that modern environmental problems are the result of the decision to "just earn" without caring about the consequences for nature. The consequences of this are the enormous costs of restoring natural systems. As it is said “if you buy cheaply, you pay dearly”, and the one who didn't want to think about nature seems to do it many times. It is the coordination of environmental and economic interests that specialists in the field of environmental economics are engaged in. The number of activities of specialists in the field of natural resources management includes assessments of natural resources, environmental and economic justification of projects, environmental and economic analysis of enterprises, justification and creation of natural resources management systems.
The Master's degree program includes economic disciplines, problems of environmental and economic assessments. A significant place is given to management issues, creation of environmental management systems, project evaluation and management, and minimization of environmental risks.
“Sustainable development”, “Environmental insurance”, “Environmental regulation”, “Modern methods of risk assessment in ecology”, “Methods and means of judicial ecological examination”, “Monitoring of natural and man-made systems”, “Ecological and economic design and risk analysis”, “HSE-management”, “Environmental management standards”, “Economics of natural resources management”, “Industrial natural resources management and economics” and others.
Practical classes introduce students to the methods of environmental and economic assessments, assessments of natural resources, environmental and economic feasibility of projects, etc. Much attention is paid to the communication of students with leading experts, master classes, participation in national and international professional competitions and conferences, communication with future employers forms future professional competence. Scientific and research internships of students are focused on environmental and economic assessment of projects for the development of natural resources in Russia and abroad. Internships are conducted in research organizations, enterprises, design and consulting companies, as well as in public authorities.
Having successfully mastered the educational program, you will be able to participate in the creation of projects for the development of mineral deposits, create systems of environmental management, conduct environmental assessments of projects in various sectors of the economy.
From the position of assistant, deputy or trainee, a graduate of the RUDN can become the Head of the Department of Ecology, the Head of the Department of HSE (occupational safety and environmental safety), the Director for Environmental Protection, the Head of the Project Team, etc.

The students get acquainted with the guests of the faculty - representatives of Federal Service for Supervision of Natural Resources (Rosprirodnadzor), leading scientific organizations of Russia, international organizations and companies in the field of biodiversity conservation, sustainable energy development, oil and gas complex, waste management industry. The program is based on the experience of cooperation with the International Center for Sustainable Development under the auspices of UNESCO.
