Formally, the science of international relations appeared in 1919, when the first chair on the history and theory of international relations was established in the city of Eberswith (Great Britain). But this does not mean that people did not think about the nature of relations between nations, countries and civilization before. Numerous reports on the work done, including fixing their positions in abundance on all extant literature - from the Bible and works of philosophers of antiquity, the Middle Ages to the scientific works of the Renaissance, Enlightenment and modern times.
At the Department of Theory and History of International Relations of the RUDN we train future foreign service workers. A diplomat is a person of the state. In the work he is guided by the interests of the country. The state gives the Foreign Ministry employee or employees of the mission abroad permission to settle conflicts and expand cooperation. The diplomat participates in official visits, negotiations and conferences, prepares and signs agreements. He can also support compatriots abroad and issue visas. The profession is traditionally considered to be one of the most prestigious, interesting and highly paid. Diplomat is also an economist, political scientist, historian, culturologist and journalist, he is able to show his thoughts and broadcast them through the media. He needs erudition, charm, tact and ability to conciliate; he adapts and responds successfully in any situations. And of course, you need to know several languages. This is a very important profession. It is akin to the profession of a doctor. If an error is permissible, a person will die, if an error is permissible, thousands and millions of people will die.
Students study the system of international relations, the activities of international organizations and associations, the problems and trends in the development of world politics, national security and foreign policy issues in Russia and other countries.
