Russian language department №1
Russian Language Department No. 1 trains international students in natural science and engineering disciplines, as well as disciplines at the Agrarian-Technological Institute in: Russian Language (A1, A2, B1), Phonetics, and Scientific Language. The training program is aimed at developing skills and abilities that enable international students to not only successfully solve communicative tasks in everyday life, but also master the learning material at all stages of training at the University. Particular focus is laid on learning the Russian language to master the future specialty.
The "Russian Language Club" is set up at the department, where the lesson-show "We Speak and Sing in Russian", the student conference "On Science in Russian" and the Olympiad in the Russian language are annually conducted.
Russian language department №2
Russian language department No. 2 provides language training for international students learning specialties for the medical institute and the ecological faculty of RUDN. The purpose of teaching students at the department is mastering the Russian language in different types of speech activity, taking into account three spheres of communication: education and research, socio-cultural and everyday speech. The department provides Russian language training in three disciplines: Phonetics, Russian Language (grammar and speech development), and scientific language.
The department is engaged in extracurricular work with international students: excursions, "Friends of the Russian Language Club", lesson-shows, including "Victory Day" lesson-show that the department has been conducting for the whole faculty at the Assembly Hall of the University for more than 30 years.
Russian language department №3
Russian Language Department No. 3 is the largest department at the faculty (51 teachers: 2 professors, 16 assistant professors, 29 senior teachers). The department is training the students to be enrolled in the Faculty of Philology and the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. The fields of research and methodological studies of the department are as follows: development of nationally oriented textbooks, testing (A1, A2, B1 levels), the development of e-educational resources of the new generation (laboratory of information technologies in education). Over the past years, the faculty has published more than 350 research and methodological works and articles, more than 60 course- and textbooks. The department conducts Olympiads and Russian language conferences, thematic lesson-shows, excursions on a regular basis, and the "Russian language Club" is always in hand.
Russian language department №4
The department trains international students in the field of "Economics", "Jurisprudence", "Business and Tourism", "Sociology".
The main task of the department is to ensure that international students could master the Russian language program of First Level Certificate - B1 that could make it possible for them to study together with the native speakers. For this reason, the department has compiled and put into practice allowing for the language specifics specialty.
The department conducts a large amount of extracurricular work, lesson-shows, research and academic conferences for future economists and lawyers, Olympiads in the Russian language.
Department of History and Social and Economic Disciplines
The department trains international students to study at the main faculties on a range of social and humanitarian disciplines: history, history of Russian and foreign literature, social studies, the basics of linguistics, political science, law, and geography. The department offers masters and trainees with a good command of the language new courses on the history of Russian civilization and culture. In the course of training international students not only improve their knowledge of the Russian language, but also get acquainted with the unique cultural and historical heritage of Russia. Highly qualified faculty organize a variety of extracurricular activities: inventive olympiads, meetings with interesting people, excursions.
Department of Chemistry and Biology
The main field of study is teaching chemistry and biology to international students doing the following courses: Chemistry, Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Agronomy, Geology, Construction, Ecology, etc. More than 600 students are trained annually at the department. The learning process at the department is provided by experienced teachers that work with international, taking into account their level of Russian language proficiency. The department actively uses e-learning materials in classes as well as electronic e-tools to monitor students’ knowledge.
The department actively engage in the work of the research and academic community of subject teachers that work with international students.
Department of Physics
The department specializes in training international students in Physics. At present, the department trains students of a wide range of specialties at the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics, Natural Sciences, the Engineering Academy, the Medical Institute, the Agrarian-Technological Institute, and the Faculty of Ecology. The faculty incorporates specialists with a great academic experience, including PhDs and doctors. The learning process is focused on the adaptation of international students to the perception and assimilation of basic physics and mathematics concepts in Russian.
In addition to academic activities, the department carries out research work in the field of theoretical physics (gravity and cosmology) in collaboration with other research divisions and faculties of the university.
Department of Mathematics and Informatics
The Department of Mathematics and Informatics trains international students in Mathematics and Basics of Informatics and Computer Science. At present the department trains students of a wide range of specialties at the Faculty of Arts and Natural Sciences, Engineering Academy, Medical Institute, Agrarian and Technological Institute, Faculty of Ecology, Faculty of Economics, as well as other students in some specialties at the Faculty of Philology and the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. The teaching staff of the department are associate professors and senior lecturers with a great pedagogical experience.
The learning process at the department is aimed at preparing international students to learn the basics of higher mathematics at the main faculties, and also to adapt students to the perception of mathematics in Russian.

the faculty applies different types of distance learning: there is a library of e-textbooks, interactive manuals and linguistic simulators; computer classes, laboratories of physics, chemistry and biology are entirely at the students’ disposal.

Students will never be bored and fall asleep behind textbooks, as we hold excursions, conduct lesson-shows, exhibitions of different cultures, friendly meetings and acquaintance parties on a regular basis.

the unique programs for teaching Russian at the Center for life-long education "Gorizont" give students the opportunity to pass the exam in Russian at the Faculty Testing Center and obtain a state certificate.
The faculty of the Russian Language and General Disciplines is briefly called Preparatory department among the students and teaching staff, since it is this department that teaches the Russian language to international students who wish to obtain higher education in Russia and do not speak Russian. Our faculty is the main center to train international students in various pre-university programs: in the Russian language and in general education disciplines such as history, geography, political science, linguistics, medical science, psychology and many others.
A unique methodological school to teach Russian as a foreign language has been set up at the faculty: within 10 months of training students can learn the language at B1 level that makes it possible not only to communicate in the society, but also master his/her chosen disciplines at the main faculties of the university together with Native speakers.
To achieve a high level of proficiency the academic staff compile textbooks and course books focused not only on the general knowledge of the Russian language, but also on mastering the peculiarities of the language for the student future profession. The academic staff also develop innovative medium of instruction: multimedia training courses, e-tests, presentation materials, video lectures and others.
The faculty engage in developing state educational standards for pre-university training, state standards for the Russian language as a foreign language, as well as improving the system of state testing for foreign citizens.
The faculty implements various training programs in the following fields of study: engineering and technology, technology, natural science, medicine and biology, economy and humanities. Special programs for short-term internships (3-4 months), as well as master programs are also on the rise.
The educational process is provided by four departments of the Russian language and the Department of mathematics and informatics; chemistry and biology; physics; history and socio-economic disciplines. Modern laboratories and multimedia classes help to intensify learning, making it modern, mobile, affordable.
To expand the scope of educational services, the faculty has created the “Gorizont” Long learning Education Center that provides foreign citizens with various short-term programs in the Russian language. The faculty also provides an excellent opportunity for foreign citizens to pass a test of Russian at the Testing Center of the Russian language and obtain a state certificate.
The faculty encompasses more than 200 academic staff, including 11 professors and doctors of sciences, 75 associate professors and PhD.
