Organizing Internships and Professional Training for Students

The main training department is responsible for choosing the site where the internship is carried out. The department chooses the sites in accordance with the concluded contracts, executes an order on referring to an internship, conducts an organizational meeting with students where the main aims and goals of the internship, its terms and the date of submitting the internship report are explained.

Types of Internships

Practical training (including introductory, academic and technological, practical geodetic, practical construction, etc. training), as a rule, takes place in the first and second years of study in order to solidify, extend and deepen the acquired theoretical knowledge and acquire initial practical skills. Practical training takes place in the University departments, laboratories or in enterprises. It is forbidden to undergo practical training individually.  

Work placement (including clinical, professional, pre-degree, pedagogical, research, etc. internships) takes place in the field-specific enterprises, including individually. Work placement is aimed at solidifying knowledge and skills acquired during theoretical training; mastering skills required for the future profession.

When does the internship take place?

Readme! The internship takes place according to the training schedule which is formed by the training department and approved by the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, as well as according to the internship programme. It is forbidden to complete an internship during vacations!

Where does the internship take place?

The internship site is offered by the specialized training department/department.

Readme! All the information about the internship sites and terms can be received from the staff member in charge for organizing and conducting internships in the faculty/ institute/ academy.

I have found an enterprise where I would like to complete my internship. What should be done in order to do that?

An application addressed to the Dean of the Faculty/ Director of the Institute (the application  form can be found here) should be written and submitted to the head of internships of the training department/department. In case the consent of the Dean / Director of the Institute is obtained, the head of internships of the training department / department fills out the internship contract and submits it to the organization specified in the application to be signed. If the internship takes place in another city you must provide a letter of guarantee signed by the head on the letterhead of the organization and submit the completed and signed contract along with all the reporting documents after the internship is completed.

Readme! The internship site is to be chosen at least a month before the internship starts.

I have already been working in my specialty and would like to complete my internship in the company where I am employed.

Write an application addressed to the Dean of the Faculty/ Director of the Institute (the application form can be found here) and enclose the copy of your employment record book or employment contract. After obtaining the consent of the head of the main training department (faculty/institute/academy) complete the internship on the job. 

I have obtained the consent to undergo an individual internship. What shall I do next?

Receive an individual assignment for the internship from the head of internships at University, as well as the form of the trainee’s assignment book and guidelines to draw up a report on the internship. Take a safety briefing at the training department/department.

Readme! Students who have not been instructed on safety before starting their internship are not allowed to undergo an internship.

What reporting documents shall be submitted after the internship is completed and what are the deadlines?

The reporting documents include a completed trainee’s assignment book, a report on internship and a testimonial from the enterprise. As for the way of filling them out and submission deadlines, the head of internships shall inform about them at the preliminary lecture which takes place before the internship starts.

Readme! All reporting documents - an assignment book, a report and a testimonial, as well as an individual assignment, - which are given to the student before the internship starts, must be provided to the head of the training department / department immediately after the internship is completed.

Readme! In case of failing to meet the deadlines for the submission of all the reporting documents the internship will not be credited.

All the documents (applications for the production of trainees’ assignment books, allocation of buses, contracts, letters to enterprises – internship sites, reports) are submitted to the department of internships and professional training during their reception hours and only by the staff in charge of internships and training of the training department / department (hereinafter referred to as designated staff) or Deputy Dean / Deputy Director of the Faculty / Institute / Academy for Academic Affairs. All the submitted documents must bear the visa of the staff member in charge of internships of the faculty / institute / academy.
