World economy is a field of expertise that assesses the consequences and prospects of international production and trade, global capital and investment flows, movements of capital, labor, and intellectual property between countries, companies, governments, and people.
A specialist in the field of world economy understands the functioning of world commodity markets; can analyze the results of regional integration and the impact of globalization on the world economies; is able to analyze and predict the exchange rates of countries; use the tools of investment analysis in the activities of world financial markets; to anticipate trends in global development.

Educational Process

Training under the programme “World Economy” provides a fundamental basic economic education, as well as skills and knowledge in the field of international business, economic development of foreign countries, risk assessment of companies' entry into foreign markets, analysis of world commodity and financial markets. Students study such courses as “Macro- and Microeconomics”, “Econometrics”, “Statistics”, “Accounting”, “Analysis of the Economic Activity of the Enterprise”, “Finance”, “Taxes and Taxation”, “Money, Credit, Banks”, “World Economy” and “International Economic Relations”, “Foreign Economic and Monetary and Financial Activity”.
In the process of studying under the main educational programme, students learn English as part of the Complementary Educational Programme and receive a diploma of a translator. In addition, students are given the opportunity to study a second foreign language of their choice (French, German, Spanish, Italian, Chinese).
Studying is conducted in Russian (the bachelor’s programme) and in French (according to the Lisas programme for those who seek to obtain a diploma from RUDN University and the University of Nice Sophia Antipolis). Students enrolled in the double degree programme go on a language internship in Nice after the first year of study. During the 3 years of study, students must study at least 1 semester at the University of Nice (possibly 2 semesters). Studying under the double diploma programme can be conducted in a distance form. From the 3rd year, educational and practical internships are held in international financial and trade centers of Europe, the Middle East, Asia and Africa.


In accordance with the curriculum, students undergo the following types of internships: educational, work placement and pre-graduation.
Educational practice is carried out at the Department of Economic and Mathematical Modeling and allows students to improve their skills in processing economic information.
Work placement and pre-graduation internship are carried out in banks, in currency and finance departments, foreign activity departments in enterprises and organizations, customs, public authorities, international companies.
Cooperation has been established with state and international organizations: the Ministry of Economic Development, the Federal Customs Service, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation, the Federal Service for Financial and Budgetary Supervision, the Russian-Arab Business Center, the Russian-Emirates Business Center, the PricewaterhouseCoopers Russia B.V., Sberbank of Russia PJSC, Halyk Bank of Kazakhstan, Deutsche Bank LLC, Citibank JSC, Nestle Group , Technopark Sophia Antipolis (30 international companies), Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Nice.
There is an opportunity to have practice in the EU countries (with the assistance of the company “Interfrance”), training and internships in Colombia, South Africa, the United Arab Emirates, etc.


Graduates of the bachelor’s programme “World Economy” work in the fields of
— international business: transnational corporations, manufacturing and trading companies, marketing services, analytical services;
— international finance: commercial banks, insurance companies, consulting companies, investment funds;
— in state bodies and structures: the Central Bank, the Ministry of Economic Development, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Federal Antimonopoly Service;
— in international and intergovernmental organizations;
— in universities and scientific institutes of the Russian Academy of Sciences, research laboratories, innovation centers.
