Educational Process

Students of the programme “International Economic Security” along with fundamental training in the field of economics, obtain profound knowledge of legal foundations in the field of security: economic, global, regional, and informational. Starting from the second year, practitioners in the field of economic security are involved in conducting classes. They conduct classes and master classes, which allow students to fully immerse themselves in the profession.
The main courses are “Geopolitics”; “Energy Security”; “Risk Management”; “Financial security”; “Foreign economic security”; “Food security”; “Tax Law”; “Integrated business security”; “World Economy”; “Information Security”.
The advantage of applying for this programme is the possibility to learn two foreign languages: English (the Complementary Education Programme ends with students getting a diploma of a translator) and a second foreign language of the student's choice (German, French, Spanish, Italian, Chinese).

Practice

In accordance with the curriculum, students have the following types of internship: educational and pre-graduation.
Educational internship is carried out at the Department of Economic and Mathematical Modeling and allows students to improve their skills in processing economic information.
Pre-graduation internship takes place in state and commercial organizations that have units dealing with economic security:
— Federal Antimonopoly Service, Federal Tax Service;
— internal control and audit services of banks and credit organizations, insurance, leasing companies, professional participants of the securities market and other organizations performing operations with cash or other property;
— audit firms and firms engaged in consulting in the field of economic security.

Career

The modern market of economic security makes increasingly high demands on its participants. In the context of the growth of external and internal economic threats and the rapid development of technologies, the need for personnel with special training is increasing. The skills of analytical work are of great importance nowadays, and of specialists who know how to conduct risk analysis and to prevent negative consequences from the onset of undesirable results.
The most demanded professions in the field of economic security are risk manager, auditor, specialist in economic security, specialist in economic competitive intelligence, specialist of the control banking service, consultant on economic security, tax inspector, analyst.
Economic security specialists are responsible for assessing the effectiveness of budget expenditures, conducting tax audits, drawing up budget estimates, forming and analyzing tax reporting, ensuring law and order in the economic sphere, planning and conducting financial control, combating corruption, and auditing.
On completion on the programme students can:
— prepare and process information for foreign economic, financial, marketing, productive-economic, and analytical services of organizations in various industries;
— use professional knowledge in the internal control services of banks and other credit organizations, insurance, leasing companies, as well as in organizations performing operations with cash or property;
— use the skills of working in various departments of enterprises responsible for areas related to foreign economic activity and the protection of national and international finance (in banks, departments for economic security, transport companies, customs, audit companies, etc.).
