About the profession
The issues of fundamental immunology have been of interest to our country's scientists of various specialties, primarily to immunologists, microbiologists, pathophysiologists, clinicians since ancient times. It should be recalled that the first Nobel Prize in the field of immunology was awarded to our compatriot Ilya Ilyich Mechnikov in 1908. Despite the fact that the work in the field of immunology was conducted throughout the last century, it should be especially noted their rapid growth and the transition to a new level in the 1980-ies, which was initiated by a famous Russian scientist, academician Rem Viktorovich Petrov, thanks to whom the "era of clinical immunology" began in our country. However, a specialty "Allergology and immunology" was introduced into the medical specialties nomenclature only in 1995. “Clinical immunology and allergology” is considered both a fundamental and practice-oriented scientific specialty, as well as an academic discipline that uses the results of scientific research in solving important and urgent applied problems. Specialists with higher medical, biological or pharmaceutical education, who wish to fulfill their intellectual potential in the field of fundamental science, choose postgraduate studies on the specialization "Clinical immunology and allergology". PhD graduates acquire a full set of universal, general professional and professional competences that allow them to independently conduct research and teaching activities within the framework of this specialty.
Already in the first year of study, the students are intensively immersed into the specialty. In the process of training, postgraduate students study a full range of educational disciplines, undertake educational and on-the-job internships. Postgraduates, who successfully mastered the programme, present a scientific report on the main results of scientific work and pass the state examination as part of the state final certification, which allows them to receive a qualification “Researcher. Research Instructor” upon graduation.
