A corporate lawyer is not just a legal counsel, he\she is a management team member, a full participant in the formulation of the enterprise strategy. The role of the lawyer in the firm can be compared to the role of the navigator, whose task is to carry out a ship on maps and navigational devices through the reefs and the banks to the destination, without a catastrophe. The task of the corporate lawyer is not to say: "allowed" or "forbidden". He has to help in developing business, making it be within the law, effective, profitable. The amount of performed functions is the main difference between the concepts of a lawyer and a corporate lawyer. Solving the narrow focused problems being connected with the Organization's internal aims is the task of a corporate lawyer.
The programme gives you the knowledge and skills required for a lawyer working in the corporation. The programme is interdisciplinary. Not only private regulation but also forms and methods of business administration, tax planning in business, and psychology of corporate security are being studied.
The programme provides the possibility to form an individual curriculum. From the two blocks of disciplines, the student selects the ones that are most interesting. This may include courses on the legal regulation of relations with public authorities, the protection of intellectual rights or the settlement of disputes.
"Topical issues of civil material and procedural law", "legal regulation of credit-settlement relations", "EU trade Law", "Insurance Law", "Contract Law", "Corporate Law", "Merger transactions/takeover", "Insolvency in the RF and foreign countries", "Patent law", etc.
The programme is designed in such a way that the student during the lectures receives only the introduction to the discipline. The most scope of the classes are held in forms of seminars where the latest trends in the relevant legal framework are discussed. Case analysis of the specific court decisions, provides an opportunity to see the application of certain provisions of the law in practice. Students regularly participate in round tables, scientific seminars and conferences, and publish articles in scientific journals. Research work is actively conducted.
The provision of legal advice is mandatory. According to the student's choice, this may be an Internet consultation on the Legal Clinic platform, an internship in the courts of Moscow and the Moscow Region, an internship in a legal firm (after a successful interview). During six weeks, students have an opportunity to apply the knowledge gained in practice: to participate in the negotiation process, prepare legal documents, including procedural ones.
Students enrolled in the programme, with a high level of the French language, have the opportunity to study in a joint programme with the University of Nice Sofia UNIC, in Nice, France. If graduate successfully, the student receives the diplomas of both universities.
