About the profession
The training of residents takes place at the clinical sites of the department in major hospitals in Moscow: the Moscow Clinical Scientific and Practical Center, P.A. Herzen Moscow Research Oncology Institute. During the training, students get knowledge of the majority of forms of tumor and non-tumoral hematologic diseases, master all the necessary skills of invasive manipulations, transfusion, antibacterial, specialized drug therapy and chemotherapy.
The residency programme on the specialization "Hematology" aims to train a qualified hematologist with a system of general cultural and professional competences, who can and is ready to conduct independent professional activities in primary healthcare; high-tech medical care; emergency service, including specialized medical care; palliative care. Graduates, who have mastered the residency programme, are engaged in studying blood-forming organs and blood, they investigate the causes of bone marrow diseases, develop methods of their treatment.
Medical residents are distributed to the units of the clinical sites of the department, where, under the guidance of professors of the department, they have the opportunity both to expand their knowledge and see its application in practice. Students analyze clinical events and this provides the opportunity to obtain a wealth of clinical experience during residency training.
A graduate of the residency programme is a highly qualified specialist, who can apply modern high-tech methods of diagnosis and treatment and carry out therapeutic, diagnostic, research activities, engage in private medical practice. Graduates of the programme have the opportunity to work in polyclinics, multidisciplinary hospitals, specialized clinics, research centers, institutes, higher educational institutions of medical specialization.
