The profession of a practical psychologist is a rapidly developing and popular type of professional activity. Throughout the world, there is a growing demand for specialists able to solve the most diverse problems of psychological care and support in various areas of life.

The mastering of integrative technologies in practical psychology will give graduates a rich set of tools for practical work, will allow them to acquire the most common techniques, to learn how to flexibly choose and appropriately use them in accordance with the tasks to be accomplished. The program is designed to provide the necessary professional competencies, creative skills related to the successful work of a modern practical psychologist, to teach students how to solve specific practical problems amid global competition.

Educational Process

The educational system is based on constructive interaction and individual communication with each student. Starting from the first meetings, there is an intensive immersion in the world of psychological practice.

The curriculum of the master's program includes disciplines aimed at acquiring the principles and methods of practical psychology in the fields of education, health, sports, culture, social assistance, law, as well as in organizations and enterprises of various branches. Much attention is paid to the theory and practice of psychological counseling, psychotherapy, the development and holding of psychological training.

Scientific research plays an important role as well. Students take part in the scientific research of the department aimed at solving urgent problems of personality psychology and human interaction with the social environment, improvement of methods of psychological help.

The content of the professional training of a practical psychologist is focused on mastering the main fields of the development of modern psychological practices, including health saving technologies, psychology of loss and trauma, sand therapy, dance-motor therapy, business consulting, coaching, NLP in counseling, psychodrama, personality self-realization training, child-parent interaction training, etc.

The unique multicultural educational space of RUDN and extensive experience in the implementation of scientific and practical programs provides the graduates of the program, among other things, with a high level of competence in intercultural interaction in everyday and professional life; they acquire the skills of culturally sensitive and culturally specific psychotherapy and psychological counseling and management of intercultural conflicts.


Students regularly participate in master classes of leading practicing psychologists, and can also act as trainers themselves, make psychodiagnostic conclusions and recommendations on work in counseling.

As part of their practical training, students work as psychologists; during their pedagogical raining, they work as teachers of higher education, and in future they get the opportunity to be teachers of psychology. Scientific research helps them to carry out research projects, to substantiate the practical significance of the studies conducted, etc.


The professional duties of specialists lie in the implementation of scientific, applied and practical psychological work in various organizations: educational institutions, political structures, community support services, etc. A practical psychologist performs individual psychological counseling, psychological correction and psychotherapy on the issues of personality, family, interpersonal relations, organizational development, business activities, marketing and advertising. The obtained competences also allow students to become teachers at secondary or higher educational institutions.
