About the profession

The programme prepares specialists in topographic surveying, on-site measurements and land surveying. Specialists in the field of land management and cadaster deal with land allocation for various purposes (construction, agriculture, etc.). The programme teaches to determine coordinates of boundaries, size and area of land. Graduates carry out actions for rational and efficient land use, monitoring, surveys and protection in accordance with the legal regulations.

Educational process

Future bachelors will acquire knowledge and practical skills in using modern technologies for creating land information systems, monitoring land resources, geodetic support for land management and cadastral work. Students will learn to apply terrestrial and satellite geodetic methods and the results of aerial and space surveys, unmanned aerial vehicles, laser scanning.

The Master's programme educational process goes hand-in-hand with science and production. Leading scientists and specialists in the field teach major subjects. Programme internship takes place in the most advanced land management, cadastral, geodetic and valuation companies and research organizations.

Geodesy, Photogrammetry, Remote sensing, Cartography, Basic land management, Basic real estate cadaster, Basic AutoCAD, Application of satellite technologies in land management and cadasters, Automation of topographic and geodetic works, Land monitoring, Land law, etc.

Practical training

The first and second year students will undergo field practical training. They will acquire skills enabling them to work with modern geodetic instruments. Students will master the technology of topographic surveying, learn to operate unmanned aerial vehicles and decode aerial and space imagery for operational monitoring of land. The third year students will undergo a six-week internship in industrial and scientific organizations where they will master technologies of land management, cadastral and geodetic works on real objects. As a rule, the internship place becomes the first workplace for future bachelors.

Graduates’ expertise and career opportunities

Graduates will work as cadastral engineering assistants, surveying engineer and geodesic engineers in departments of Rosreestr, land registry offices departments and agencies of federal state unitary enterprise “Rostechinvenntarizatsiya”, departments of architecture and town planning, departments of the Federal Property Management Agency, geodesic and real estate firms, insurance companies, etc.
