About the profession
The first information about gymnastics appeared in the fifth century BC. In those days it was the name of physical training. The word "gymnastics" came from the Greek word "hymnos", which means "naked". In those days, people practiced gymnastics naked under the hot rays of the southern sun, realizing that the "lifestyle of a free man" is inconceivable without gymnastics. The essence of the profession of a specialist in the field of physical training and sports is to inform about the benefits of a healthy lifestyle, motivate to physical training, expand the person's idea of a harmoniously developed personality, cultivate understanding that “your health is in your hands”. The main result includes such assets as recognition, popularity, respect, image and reputation.
Already in the first year of study, the students are intensively immersed in the profession. They study a full range of modern sport and fitness techniques, the current state of the market for physical training and health services in Russia and abroad, modern technologies of physical training and sports, Internet promotion tools.

Subject discussions, master classes of leading experts in the field of physical training and sports, participation in international competitions, communication with potential employers form future professional competences. Annually students undertake an internship in general education schools, youth sports schools, at the Department of Physical Education and Sports of RUDN University.
Having mastered the educational programme successfully, graduates can hold managerial positions in educational, state and commercial organizations; continue research activities, build a career of a specialist with fundamental knowledge (teacher, coach, university teacher, etc.); provide advice and conduct private practice (depending on the focus of research) in the field of physical training and sports.
