About the profession

The tourism industry is considered one of the fastest growing and promising. Specialist in the field of tourism deals with issues related to the organization of travel at different levels. Today, in accordance with the requirements of the time, the role of state structures in the development of tourism is strengthened. Activities related to the strategic development of tourism, the definition of priorities in the development of tourism activities of the territories, forecasting, planning and planning of tourist services at the level of the city, region and country are of particular importance. Organization and management of the development of tourist clusters, tourist complexes, and analysis of the tourism services market, development and implementation of innovations in the tourism industry require special knowledge and competence.

Educational process

The master's program "Planning and development of tourism at the state level" is designed to train specialists for effective and responsible tourism management at the national, regional, local level.

The program introduces undergraduates with various fields of knowledge related to tourism, including forecasting and strategic planning, tourism services design, innovation, management, recreational geography, branding and research in tourism. Preparation for a foreign language is aimed at fluency in professional vocabulary and conversational skills.

The first year the training is held in the IGBT RUDN, the second year the undergraduates study in one of the partner universities, studying the specifics of tourism development in this or that country.

During the training, students conduct research work within the framework of the selected topics; pass practical training at the profile enterprises. As a result of the training, the undergraduates receive a diploma on the formation of two universities.

As a result of mastering the program, undergraduates acquire the skills to solve the following professional tasks:


  • Analysis, organization and management of tourism activities at different levels (federal, regional, municipal (local) levels);
  • forecasting, designing and planning the provision of tourism services at the national, regional, local level and at the level of an individual enterprise.

Upon completion of the training, graduates can carry out professional activities in government bodies related to the organization of tourism, governmental and non-governmental organizations engaged in tourism at the international, national, regional and local levels.
