About the profession

Currently, the profession of a psychologist and teacher is one of the most demanded in the labor market both in Russia and abroad. Knowledge in the field of psychology and pedagogy can be used in any field of activity, since psychology is the science about humans and their capabilities, while pedagogy studies the stages of development and formation of a personality in modern society. Students master the theory of education and mentoring, study the history of pedagogy and education, and social pedagogy. They know the general foundations of pedagogy, qualitative and quantitative methods of psychological and pedagogical research, psychological and pedagogical diagnostics and technologies. They also work on the issues of the history and current state of social pedagogy. Specialists who have psychological communication skills can easily establish contacts with other people and build the correct hierarchy of relationships important for further cooperation. Knowledge of the laws of psychological self-regulation allows them to form a line of professional development, relying on their own resources, taking into account the opportunities provided by the people around. Proficiency in foreign languages creates additional advantages in expanding the area of mutually beneficial cooperation at the international level. Students acquire all the necessary competences to carry out successful teaching activities in preschool, primary, secondary or higher education institutions. Within the framework of this program, specialists are also trained to work with children with special needs.

Educational process

The educational process is built taking into account the integration of knowledge and experience. From the first days of training there is an intensive immersion in the profession. The greatest attention is paid to such areas of human activity as psychology, pedagogy, social work, ethical and legal norms of educational activities. Students consider characteristic manifestations of individuality, activity and communication, laws and mechanisms of mental development and the formation of a person's personality, master the skills of recruiting personnel, learn to resolve conflicts of various origins and other problems.
The main attention is paid to the study of subjects of the psychological and pedagogical cycle, which include "General psychology (with a practical workshop)", "Age psychology", "Pedagogical technologies", "Social psychology", "Conflictology", "Fundamentals of family psychology and family counseling" , "Clinical psychology of children and adolescents", "Psychological and pedagogical diagnostics", "Theory and methods of social education", "Psychotherapy", etc.
A special place in the program is occupied by teaching foreign languages. In-depth knowledge gained in the process of mastering disciplines in foreign languages allows students to pass international certification exams. Students acquire all the necessary competences for further professional activities.
Students meet potential employers and experts in the field of management psychology, attend teaching master classes, trainings, role-play and business games.
Particular attention is paid to science and international activities. Students take part in international scientific conferences, publishing articles. They have the opportunity to undergo internships and study abroad at IFL partner universities.
As part of the educational process, innovative multimedia technologies and interactive forms of education are used.
Bachelors defend their final qualification works in English.

Practical training

The program "Psychology of education" in the frame of "Psychological and pedagogical education" major is practice-oriented and includes educational, teaching, on-the-job and pre-defence practices, which are very creative, employing business games, discussions, case studies, project creation, immersion in a problem, group and individual work.
Practice sites include educational, sports (Sport school "Borets (Wrestler)" of the Moscow Sports Committee), medical and social organizations (LLC "Zhiviye sistemy (Live Systems)", “PharmaMed” Pharmacy), Russian and foreign companies (LLC "City Restaurants"), in factories, recruitment agencies, embassies and banks (JSC "Credit Europe Bank"), travel agencies (LLC "IMOS DH group - Vinago's travel"), children's linguistic camps (E -camp, Moscow secondary school No. 1243), public organizations and foundations.

Career

Graduates work in the field of management and education, consulting services and psychological support. Schools, colleges, lyceums and universities are ready to employ specialists of this level. Preschool institutions, children's and creative centers, clubs and associations are also happy to employ graduates of universities with psychological and pedagogical training. They work in Russian and foreign companies, public funds and organizations, in the field of municipal and state administration, tourism and hospitality, hotel and restaurant business, show business, radio, television, social and medical organizations.
HR specialist, client manager, practicing consultant, educational psychologist, deputy head of educational programs, and director of the company (“WantResult” advertising agency), head of one’s own organization (English Language Studio “Get English”) – just to name a few  positions held by IFL graduates.
