A linguist is a specialist in translation, teaching and scientific description of language. The program is designed, first of all, for graduate students who come to Russia for advanced studies of the Russian language. In the era of broad international cooperation between Russia and other countries, Russian language specialists, translators and teachers are in demand in many countries of the world. The program is designed to give foreign students the necessary skills for successful work as teachers of Russian and an interpreters from the Russian language.

Not only bachelors of linguistics, but also graduates of bachelor programs in other fields can enter this master's program.

Educational process

The peculiarity of this specialization is that Russian is the main foreign language. The master's program involves studying special disciplines from the field of translation studies and methods of teaching Russian as a foreign language. Elective disciplines allow the acquisition of communication skills in the professional field, study translation technologies or get acquainted with new scientific methods of research and language teaching.

The uniqueness of the program is in combining the knowledge and skills necessary for researchers in language and culture and a high level of practical training in the Russian language.

The main form of instructor-led classes is seminars and practical classes, interactive classes on translation, Russian, intercultural communication. Classes teach students to solve practical problems of translation and communication in Russian with the help of business games and modeling of communicative situations.

During the training, the students study Theory and History of Linguistics, Pedagogy and Psychology of Higher Education, General Theory of Translation, Language and Intercultural Communication.

Much of the master's preparation consists in the students' research work, their participation in the scientific life of the department and the preparation of a master's thesis related to their future professional activity.

Practice

Students undergo practical training as teachers of Russian to foreigners, as translators; they participate in research projects jointly with their professors.
