About the profession

Power engineering is a priority area of the modernization and technological development of the Russian economy. The programme is aimed at training of sought-after specialists in the field of improving the operated energy machines of steam and gas turbine units, with knowledge and skills in technical diagnostics, identifying problematic issues, setting topical tasks, conducting research and technical developments, choosing innovative methods and means of solving the set tasks to ensure the compliance of energy, fuel economic and environmental parameters of steam and gas turbine units with the highest rate in the global turbine construction.

Training process:

Design, construction, research, installation and operation of energy machines, units, plants and control systems aimed at creating competitive technology, which are based on various forms of energy conversion. Objects of professional activity of graduates of the master's degree programme are machines, units and machinery on the production, conversion and consumption of various forms of energy, including: steam generators; combustion chambers; steam and gas turbine units and engines; steam turbines; power plants based on unconventional and renewable types of energy; fans, blowers and compressors; actuators, systems and devices for control of the operation of energy machines, units, machinery and complexes with various forms of energy conversion; auxiliary equipment ensuring the operation of energy facilities; technologies and equipment for power engineering.

Disciplines:

The specialized disciplines cover the main areas of power engineering in relation to internal combustion engines (ICE): Mathematical modeling of heat engines, Modern energy technologies, Patenting, Automatic regulation of heat engines, Cogeneration units based on heat engines, Modern computer communication technologies, SGTU testing methods, Special chapters of SGTU theory, Automatic regulation of heat engines, Variable modes of units with SGTU, Heat exchangers, Current issues of science and production in power engineering, Special chapters of SGTU operation.

Internship:

Undertaking scientific research internships, students learn modern technology, organization and management of enterprises, as well as the latest research methods. As part of the teaching internship, students are trained to be teachers and receive relevant skills.

The Department has long-term and productive relationship with the leading Russian universities (Bauman Moscow State Technical University, Moscow State Automobile & Road Technical University, Moscow Power Engineering Institute, Kazan Aviation Institute, Moscow Aviation Institute, Moscow Automechanical Institute, etc.)

Career opportunities:

Power engineering is a professional field of graduates. The main areas of professional activity include scientific, R&D and production institutions and organizations of any form of ownership; state and non-state secondary, specialized secondary and higher educational institutions.
