DESCRIPTION:The electrosynthesis of cyano acetate derivatives by acetonitrile reduction is a green and safe strategy to replace the traditional cyanation. Herein\, we have obtained the cyano acetate derivatives in good yields by a simple electrolysis of aldehyde and acetyl chloride in acetonitrile in an undivided cell with carbon cathode and magnesium anode.
