RUDN and FISU: sports track at the university

Winter and summer Universiades (World Student Games), championships and world cups among students, more than 60 sports and athletes from 150 countries — this is all about FISU. FISU is the International University Sports Federation, promoting sports activities among students around the world. Read our article about FISU and student sports.

Sports at RUDN University is not just a hobby, but a lifestyle. For three years, the university has been participating in the FISU Healthy Campus project, a program to promote a healthy lifestyle at universities, and in July 2022, RUDN University will host the FISU Powerlifting World Cup.

FISU not only organizes sports events, but also implements educational projects.

FISU Clean Sport

FISU stands for “clean” university sports. Together with the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), the federation has created an electronic anti-doping manual, describing the types of doping and methods of combating it. Its target audience is first-year students who are just starting their sports career. The manual is available in English, Spanish and French. There is also an anti-doping e-learning platform (ADeL) where athletes, coaches and doctors take educational courses.

FISU Young Reporters Program

At the XXIX World Winter Universiade in 2019, the educational program “Young Reporter” (U-Media) was held in Krasnoyarsk. Young Reporter is a journalism education program for young sports journalists who can practice at major FISU multisport events and at the Summer and Winter World University Games.

FISU Volunteer Leaders Academy

The Leaders’ Academy is an educational event for the international sports and volunteer movement. Every year the Academy conducts educational activities in Kazan for students from all over the world. Young sports management leaders undergo a rich program that includes lectures and round tables to develop knowledge and skills in the field of volunteer management at sports events. In 2020, the event brought together over 200 participants from 116 national and all five continental university sports federations.
