On April 2nd 2012, Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia for the very first time ever welcome students from the sovereign state of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines located in the Caribbean Sea. The 10 prospective students, all enrolling under national auspices, are going to study at the Philological Faculty, the Faculty of Economics and the Preparatory Faculty. Saint Vincent and the Grenadines gained its independence in 1979. Its capital is Kingstown. The country’s official language is English. It is part of the Commonwealth of Nations, and its form of government is constitutional monarchy with Queen Elizabeth II as head of state. The territory of the state comprises the island of Saint Vincent and a chain of small islands called the Grenadines that form part of the Lesser Antilles archipelago. The population numbers 104,200. The interests of the Russian Federation in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines are represented by the Russian Ambassador to Guyana.
