RUDN Medical Institute traumatic surgeons are awarded with the Archimedes golden medal and diplomas 2016

The RUDN University top orthopedic specialists and traumatic surgeons got an announcement about the highest award –Archimedes golden medal and diplomas and took part in the International Moscow Salon on Inventions and Innovative Technologies - “Archimedes-2016.

The RUDN Medical Institute surgeons presented the inventions in treatment of foot planovalgus deformity which show incredible results - the fast diagnostics, minimal surgical trauma, reduced time of patient rehabilitation period, lesser number of days of temporary disability among the population of labor active ages, and lower level of invalidization.

RUDN specialist’s methods of surgical operations allow avoiding the application of additive techniques of high cost (fluoroscopic control). Elaborated classification includes the complex of significant diagnostic parameters: clinical investigation of the patient, special tests evaluating the amount of internal rotation of the ankle, the anatomical integration of ligamentous and tendineus complex, the talonavicular ligament, determining the stage of planovalgus deformation in express regime, determining the method and the amount of surgical correction of deformation. Each clinical state, the data of instrumental methods of investigation and roentgenological criteria correspond to every stage of deformation.

The methods of surgical treatment are selected on the basis of diagnostic investigation of patient and considering the stage of deformation and allow making surgical correction with minimal trauma.

The problem of diagnostics and treatment of foot planovalgus deformity appeared in 1960 and is very important today. There is no universal classification and standard indications for surgical treatment, and this is the reason of late diagnostiсs, incorrect tactics of treatment of patients, unsatisfactory results of surgical treatment, revision surgery. RUDN surgeons elaborated technology which is diminishing diagnostics time, raising diagnostics objectivity and reducing the costs. The methods of surgical treatment which are proposed by them correspond to every stage of deformation, and they provide possibilities to avoid mistakes in the tactics of operative treatment, reduce unsatisfactory results and surgical operations revisions
