Zambia, Côte d'Ivoire, Algeria, Egypt… RUDN Economists strengthen the dialogue between Russia and Africa
“RUDN University develops scientific and academic cooperation with African and Asian countries. If people don’t know where to start communicating with each other, if people have never been to Africa, then the task of RUDN University is to build this bridge so that we begin to communicate much more often,” Inna Andronova, Doctor of Economics, Dean of Economics Faculty of RUDN.
Foreign graduates of Russian universities noted at the meeting that Russian education is in demand in African countries. Lubinda Haabazoka said: now thousands of Zambians receive government scholarships to study in Russia.
“Zambia has an English education system, and there is no variety of economics in the country — only economics. Zambia needs to exchange experience with Russian universities and invite Russian students to Zambian universities in the capital,” Lubinda Haabazoka, Doctor of Economics, Director of the School of Business at the University of Zambia, a graduate of the Rostov State University of Economics.
N’Goran Koffi Celestin said that recently RUDN University and ETIC University signed a cooperation agreement. Its goal is to develop economic education in Africa.
“We are graduates of the Peoples’ Friendship University, and today we need to work together. The education we received at RUDN University is of high quality. We need to be proud of this and use our knowledge to develop our own countries,” N’Goran Koffi Celestin, PhD in Economics, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business Management at ETIC University in Côte d’Ivoire, a graduate of the Faculty of Economics of RUDN University.
It is also important to involve students in the development of trade and economic relations between Russia and Africa. Kasonde Aaron Mwewa, a student of the Faculty of Economics of the RUDN University, presented the project of the Summer School in Zambia for students of the RUDN University and the Zambia Business School. For two weeks, economists will work on a joint project to bring competitive goods made in Zambia or Russia to the world market. The goal of the project is to prove that international trade will contribute to the development of bilateral relations between Russia and Zambia.
“The summer school is my first international project. It will allow the youth of the two countries to get to know each other, find friends and learn about the cultures of our countries. The projects developed at the Summer School will be presented to representatives of the country’s business — potential investors for their implementation,” Kasonde Aaron Mwewa (Zambia).
The participants of the meeting noted that an important stage in education is professional growth. To promote Russian education abroad, it is necessary for foreign students to organize internships and internships in domestic companies, to support start-ups, projects and scientific research.
