Instruction for international students of RUDN University who can return from their countries

International students who:
  • are citizens of states, which have restored air communication with Russia on a reciprocal basis. As of March 31, 2021 there are 31 such countries..
  • have a residence permit in the above countries or another document that confirms the right to permanent residence in these countries.

Russia has restored flights with 31 countries on a reciprocal basis (as of April 4, 2021):

Attention! Citizens of other states cannot enter Russia through “open” countries to study.

How to get a study visa of the Russian Federation

  • If you are a postgraduate student or resident - send a request to the Department for training highly qualified personnel phd@rudn.ru. In the letter, indicate your full name, student ID number and your citizenship.

If you have a multiple regular study visa, you can cross the border to enter the RF.

  • The invitation is issued within 20 working days and sent by e-mail.
  •  An international student submits a package of documents for obtaining a visa to the embassy / consulate of the Russian Federation or a visa center in his/her country.

Before you come to Russia

You need a negative PCR COVID-19 test taken not earlier than 3 days before leaving for Russia. When you arrive you should have a certificate either in Russian or English.

For 1st-year students (enrollment 2020)

  1. Inform about your arrival in Russia 10 (ten) days prior to arrival. Send a letter to the International Students Department of RUDN University (choose your region), if you are a postgraduate student — write to the Department for Training Highly Qualified Personnel phd@rudn.ru. In the letter, indicate your full name, citizenship, contact phone number, attach a copy of your ticket or provide information about arrival: airport, time of arrival, flight number. Then RUDN staff will meet you at the airport.
     
  2. Upon arrival, you will be accommodated in a separate hostel, Hostel # 15, where you will be temporarily isolated until you receive a second negative test result for COVID-19. The hostel is located at 5,bld.2, Miklukho-Maklaya street.
     
  3. Taking COVID-19 test
    During your self-isolation in Dorm 15, a medical worker from the CDC will come to you to take a smear for COVID-19, the cost of the test is 1600 rubles(exception: 1st year and preparatory faculty international students who study on the government quota, the test is taken free of charge).
    You can pay for the test at RUDN MFC after receiving the results. It is more convenient to do this when you come for a certificate for migration registration and medical insurance.
  4. You need to undergo migration registration.
    Within 2 days after arrival send a copy of your passport (including the page with a border crossing mark), migration card and visa (for visa countries). at passport.office@rudn.ru
    Copies of documents must be in PDF format with clear texts and images.
    You can ask for help from the staff of the Campus Directorate, who will help you scan and send documents.

  5. Your temporary isolation will end after you get a negative COVID-19 test.
  6. Now you can pick up the migration registration certificate, make insurance and conclude a study contract. All this will take about 40 minutes. Come to RUDN Multifunctional Center in the main building and bring the following documents:
    • COVID-19 negative test result certificate (test done on the territory of the Russian Federation).
    • ID (confirming citizenship).
  7. You need to undergo medical examination at RUDN Clinical and Diagnostic Center.
    Address: 10, Miklukho-Maklaya street.
    Detailed instructions for the medical examination will be provided to you at the RUDN MFC.
     
  8. You can get permanent accommodation in the hostel only after a medical check-up — come to MFC with a medical certificate, conclude a hostel lease agreement and receive a ready-made migration arrival card.
     
  9. To register a personal file, submit a package of documents:
    - to RUDN International Students Department (choose the region) at 10/2, Miklukho-Maklaya street. 
    - to RUDN Department of training highly qualified staff at 10/3, Miklukho-Maklaya street
    What you need to bring:
    • original of the diploma (education certificate) and attachment, legalized in accordance with the established procedure;
    • certified translations into Russian of the education document and attachment;
    • notarized translation of the passport;
    • medical reports: on the absence of contraindications for studying in the Russian Federation and absence of HIV and;
    • 12 photos (3 * 4).
       
  10. You can start studying — check the current schedule in RUDN mobile application (AppStore / GooglePlay) or on RUDN website.

For all other students (2nd  year and older) 

  1. We are waiting for you! Inform us that you are coming:
    • 10 days before arrival – to the International Student Department (chose your region), if you are a postgraduate student or resident – to the Department of training highly qualified staff phd@rudn.ru. Write your name, citizenship, contact number and attach a copy of the ticket.
    • One day before arrival write to the contact person in the hostel where you lived from your corporate e-mail address.

  1. According to the RF law, after arrival, you are obliged to have a second COVID-19 test and be isolated until the negative result.
     
  2. You can isolate at RUDN University — get on your own from the airport to RUDN University Hostel No. 15 (5,bld.2, Miklukho-Maklaya street) and contact Magomed Bazgiev, Rooms 108 or 103.

    • ID (confirming citizenship).
