The first registered participant at WFM2024 was RUDN student Daria Semenova. This happened right at the presentation of the festival in Nizhny Novgorod. She addressed Russian President Vladimir Putin with proposal to hold the World Youth Festival in our country.
Participants of past festivals share their memories telling what it was like:
“I took part as the head of the artistic group of Peoples’ friendship university delegation. I selected numbers and performers, compiled programs, wrote scripts, conducted rehearsals, and during festivals every day I took our artistic group to several concerts at different venues, and was the presenter and author of scripts for all concerts and artistic events. We prepared for the festival every day, as a group, from April until departure, and on the way to Havana by ship for another 16 days,” Tatyana Sorokina, participant in the festivals in 1973 and 1978.
“Thanks to the festival, today I have friends from all over the world. We often talk on the phone. But the most important thing is that as a participant and volunteer, I met people from different regions of Russia, where I can easily come and feel at home. If you are active, responsible, tolerant, know how to listen and hear the people around you, try yourself as a volunteer!” Hassan Abdoulaye Mahamat from Chad, participant and volunteer of the 2017 festival.
“The Youth Festival is a great opportunity to meet new people, develop your skills and be inspired by the achievements of others,” Chimuka Singuva, 2017 Festival participant.
“When you find yourself at the festival, don’t waste time. Meet and communicate with as many participants as possible. I did just that, and now I have friends all over the world. This phrase means more than it seems,” Issa Shaabo, participant of the 2017 festival.
