Seminar “Effects and challenges of wireless sensor networks and internet of things in smart cities”
24 June at 16:00 MSK
The Internet of Things (IoT) serves as a system interconnecting the physical world to the digital world and offers new opportunities for the advancement of smart cities. The exciting potential of IoT can contribute significantly to various aspects of smart cities and environment and technologies. With innovative IoT solutions, the researchers aim to control day-to-day smart cities operations via Internet. IoT refers to a family of diverse types objects which connect and collaborate with one another through different types of sensors, actuators, and processors. The backbone of IoT is the Wireless Sensor Network (WSN), which enables the realization of the smart cities concept. A large amount of data is gathered due to a large number of sensors connected to the objects. IoT network in the case of a smart city must be scalable as there can be requirement of adding new devices and deleting old devices, anytime and anywhere. In this Lecture, we aim to take an overview on Characteristics of Smart Cities, IoT-Based Solutions for Smart Cities, Challenges Ahead, Integration of WSN with IoT Applications.
