Step 1 - Enrolment in postgraduate study and internship
Personnel training and appraisal department of highly qualified academic and teaching staff initiates the order on enrolment in a postgraduate study, internship after successful passing of the entrance tests with providing the original diploma of higher education and execution of enrolment contract (for contract form of education) or getting the directive of the Ministry of Education and Science (for education funded from the federal budget).

Step 2 - Appointment of the research supervisor, statement of a thesis (for postgraduate students), drawing up the individual plan and its performance
The research supervisor organizes and controls the educational activities of a postgraduate student, intern, on completing the training programme, estimates the implementation of the individual plan.
Educational activity on the training programme provides:
- providing training in the form of lectures, seminars, practical classes
- carrying out practice, scientific research on a thesis (for postgraduate students)
- conducting control of mastering the programme through intermediate testing each semester and State Final Certification
- within the course of studies postgraduate students are to write and publish at least 2-3 articles in the journals recommended by the HAC (the Higher Attestation Commission of the Russian Federation)
Training in a postgraduate study of RUDN University provides an opportunity to participate in the competition “Full-time postgraduate study”. Winners of the competition have a possibility to work full-time at the department, to have in-depth scientific research, are to publish articles in the journals indexed in the Web of Science/Scopus databases, to get a grant of 38000 rub.
Training at RUDN University internship for foreign students provides a possibility of taking the programme “Internship+”, i.e. increasing of the training period in the internship from three to five years according to the standards of the host country.
Within the course of the postgraduate study and internship, it is necessary to fully implement the approved personal plan of training, which is formed on the basis of the curriculum, consists of mastering the disciplines, practices, scientific researches. Besides, it provides publishing of articles and involving in scientific and technical activities. The program length of the postgraduate study is 180 or 240 credits (depending on the specialty of training), internship – 120 credits. (It is possible to attach the plan or reference)
Step 3 - State Final Certification (SFC)
- For postgraduate students - the State Final Examination, thesis defense (the scientific report on the thesis)
- For interns - the State Final Examination
After the successful passing of the State Final Examination, postgraduate students obtain the postgraduate diploma and the conclusion of the admission to the defense of the thesis for the academic degree of the candidate of science; graduates of internship obtain the residency diploma
