Chemist from RUDN received a new structural type of compound that includes atoms of metals (copper and sodium) in the frame structure, in the form resembling a bicycle helmet. The compound exhibits catalytic activity in two important organic synthesis reactions. Development can be used in the context of creating new catalysts for the chemical industry. RUDN biochemists found out that apoptosis (programmed cell death) can be regulated using the EndoG enzyme. The discovery will lead to better understanding of cell and tissue protection mechanisms. The results of the study were published in the Biochimie journal.

RUDN mathematicians confirmed that the Earth has other satellites besides the Moon - cosmic dust clouds that are difficult to observe. A hypothesis about their existence had been developed 60 years ago, but first confirmations were obtained only last year. The calculations of RUDN mathematicians give a mathematical proof of the obtained data and will be used to plan space missions.

A team of agrochemists from Russia, Germany, and Chile confirmed the so-called ferrous wheel hypothesis - the turnover of iron in the soil that enriches it with organic nitrogen. The results of the study were published in the Geochimica at Cosmochimica Acta journal.

A RUDN chemist synthesized nanomaterials for water purification, catalysis of organic reactions and sensors. The substances were developed on the basis of porous carbon with iron oxide and nitrogen particles. The article was published in Applied Surface Science.

Denis Degterev devoted his research to how the problem of peripheral development of the participating countries is overcome in the framework of BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa). Using the example of a network analysis of the top 5 partners of each of the BRICS countries, the author showed a network of current interaction among the participating countries.

Director of the Industry Management Center, Anna Ostrovskaya, together with the Russian Space Systems Holding (RSS, part of the ROSKOSMOS State Corporation), with the support of the Permanent Mission of the Russian Federation to the United Nations, participated in the 23rd session of the Committee on the Development of Intellectual Property (CRIS) of the World Intellectual Property Organization UN.

The first winner is the project “Linguistic Cultural Identity and Communication Style in Different Socio-Cultural Contexts”, the supervisor is Tatyana Larina (Russia) and the co-director is Daniel Kadar (Institute of Linguistics, Hungarian Academy of Sciences).

The postgraduate student at the Medical University of RUDN, Mikhail Chenkurov, won the competition of research projects of young scientists at the XXVI Russian National Congress "Human and Medicine".
