Tank commander and professor at RUDN University - the combat and scientific path of Vladimir Kudinov
On the eve of Victory Day, we share the stories of front-line soldiers who, after the Great Patriotic War, participated in the creation of the Peoples' Friendship University and educated a new generation of students.
Vladimir Aleksandrovich Kudinov is a Doctor of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor, Professor at RUDN University and a veteran of the Great Patriotic War. Born on September 2, 1916 in the village of Elan, Volgograd Region. He wanted to research machine tools and teach at a university. But exploits in science had to be postponed - in 1939, Vladimir Alexandrovich was drafted into the Red Army.
Start of the war
He met the beginning of the war on the Western Front as a tank commander. In managing armored vehicles, he was helped by the specialty of a mechanical engineer, which Vladimir received at the Moscow Machine Tool Institute. During the battles near the city of Senno, Sergeant Vladimir Kudinov, leading a group of tanks, repelled an attack by enemy infantry. He knocked out 3 tanks, but lost his own. Already on foot he defended his homeland in the Battle of Smolensk, which put an end to Hitler’s blitzkrieg.
Vladimir Aleksandrovich returned to control a tank during the defense of Moscow as part of the 22nd Tank Brigade, whose actions were noted by Marshal of the Soviet Union Georgy Zhukov. He was wounded while evacuating a tank from the battlefield in the area of the storage warehouse. Crimean. After the amendment, he was appointed to the Headquarters of Armored and Mechanized Forces.
Post-war time
Lieutenant Vladimir Kudinov met the beginning of peaceful life at the first Victory Parade on June 24, 1945. For military feats he was awarded two Orders of the Patriotic War, 1st degree, the medals “For the Defense of Moscow” and “For the Victory over Germany in the Great Patriotic War.”
Teaching at Peoples' Friendship University
After the war, Vladimir Aleksandrovich returned to scientific activity, and in 1964 he was accepted into the Peoples' Friendship University at the department of mechanical engineering technology, metal-cutting machines and tools. He devoted half a century to machine tool engineering: the dynamics of machine tools, the theory of mechanical vibrations, cutting, friction, wear and lubrication of mechanical systems. Recently, he has been developing an original concept of mechanics without dislocation deformation and destruction of bodies.
Trained 121 candidates and 9 doctors of technical sciences. His students became followers in the field of machine tool dynamics and friction systems, and the use of new materials in machine tool construction. For 57 years of teaching activity, continuously combined with science, he was awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labor, the Badge of Honor and the Veteran of Labor medal.
We continue to share the stories of front-line soldiers who created the Peoples’ Friendship University. Georgy Bruchinsky was born in 1917, graduated from the Leningrad Forestry Academy in 1939, and in 1941 graduated from the basic faculty of the Ivanovo Military Political School.
We continue to share the stories of front-line soldiers who created the Peoples' Friendship University. On the eve of Victory Day, here is the story of a lawyer who was seriously wounded, worked for 30 years in his native Tatarstan, and dedicated his “silver” years to Peoples’ Friendship University.
