Teaching

A full course of lectures to RUDN students, doctors and interns on:

  • Fundamental immunology, with sections: physiology of the immune system;
  • Immune system pathologies;
  • Immunotherapy and immunorehabilitation;
  • Vaccines, immunobiotechnology;
  • Clinical immunology and allergology.

Science

  • Developed a strategy, tactics and a comprehensive immunorehabilitation program for patients with an impaired immune system function. Such patients are prone to a chronic and relapsing course of disease. Her developments formed the basis of a new medical science – immunorehabilitation. It is widely used in practical healthcare for establishment of immunorehabilitation centers.
  • Developed a method for predicting infectious complications of atopic dermatitis in children during specific immunotherapy. This is the main pathogenic method of treating allergic diseases. The method consists in determining the phagocytic activity of granular neutrophils (a type of white blood cells) in children’s blood. It allows one to reduce the frequency of infectious complications of atopic dermatitis and increases the effectiveness of treatment of severe and persistent forms of disease. • Conducts research on molecular diagnostics of allergic disease mechanisms and develops new methods of personalized treatment including targeted therapy, immune checkpoint blocker therapy (blocking control systems and restoring the anti-tumor immune response), searches for new promising targets and ways to overcome immunological tolerance, creates anti-tumor vaccines.
  • Conducts research in oncoimmunology and develops methods of immunotherapy for oncological diseases and vaccine therapy for patients with cancerous tumors of the urogenital tract.
    • Researched new antitumor antigens – promising targets in the creation of antitumor vaccines for the treatment of urothelial carcinoma.
    • Developed several tumor cell lines suitable for autologous and allogeneic anti-tumor vaccines.
  • Developing:
    • programs of quick rehabilitation after plastic surgeries and various aesthetic interventions, and trichology programs;
    • rejuvenation techniques, non-surgical correction of age-related changes using minimally invasive techniques and weight loss programs, postnatal body correction;
    • recombinant vaccines against food allergies.

The paper presents clinical and immunological characteristics of patients with allergic diseases caused by aeroallergens; presents data on changes in immunological parameters in patients with respiratory allergies, depending on the severity of the disease, as well as in the process of specific treatment. Clinico-epidemiologic study proves that the Western Georgia is characterized by frequency and variety of allergic diseases, especially respiratory allergies, determined by sharp features of eco-geographical climate. Due to the above-mentioned, at this stage the study aimed to establish the correlation between the concentrations of phadiatop, general IgE and specific aeropollutants, taking into consideration the annual calendar of plants blossoming for the reality of Imereti region.
This review presents results of scientific research, system and meta-analyses that confirm the clinical efficacy of allergen-immunotherapy for children with atopic dermatitis (AD) who has the sensitization to allergens of house dust mite, grass and plant pollen suffering from co-occurring respiratory ADs and with moderate and severe course of allergic AD. There have been analyzed the most advanced achievements in AIT studies as well as there have been specified the unmet needs in AD.
There was developed the algorithm of examination and diagnosis of patients with atopic dermatitis (AD) allows the choice of an adequate complex of immunotherapy in accordance with different immunopathogenetic phenotypes based on detected immune system disorders. The above improves the treatment of children, increases the duration of remission, reduces the risk of the patient developing severe and chronic AD, and it improves their quality of life.
The Manifesto focuses on the need to choose a doctor between inhalation drugs with large and small particles in the treatment of COPD and asthma, considering the characteristics of the disease, phenotype and response to previous therapy. The manifesto describes the evidence gathered to date and defines and proposes issues on small airway involvement and management in asthma and COPD with the aim of challenging assumptions, fostering commitment, and bringing about change.
