Students’ safety

The University administration pays special attention to ensuring the safety of students at RUDN University.

The infrastructure that ensures students’ safety:

1. RUDN University Service Police Department. Located on the student campus and serves exclusively the territory of the University.
2. Department of Internal Affairs for the Southwestern District. Involved if it is necessary to use special equipment or technologies, as well as during significant public events.
3. Security alert group of the Center for Comprehensive Law Enforcement.Works around the clock and ensures the protection of University facilities from unauthorized access. Takes measures to prevent and localize emergencies on the territories and buildings of the University.
4. Central control unit. Receives and processes information during the day, including that supplied by 2,200 surveillance cameras installed on the territory and in the buildings of the University. Has round-the-clock communication with all Moscow emergency services: Ministry of Emergency Situations, Mosgaz, Mosenergo, Heat distribution network, Sewerage network, Moscow water utility, etc.
5. Private security companies. Protect all 28 buildings of the University using specialized access control and management systems.
6. The Department of Fire Prevention. Ensures fire safety and training employees and students in fire safety standards. Has round-the-clock communication and controls the work of the Central Control Unit of the University.
7. The Fire Automation Department. Maintains fire alarms and transmits a signal of the automatic fire alarm to the Central Control Unit. Further, this signal without human intervention is automatically transmitted to the nearest fire department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations.
8. Elevator Control Unit. Provides round-the-clock maintenance of elevators in all educational and residential buildings of the University.
9. The Department of Civil Defense and Emergency Situations. Exercises overall control and coordination of work on civil defense and protection from natural and man-made emergencies.
