Mr. Sam Thabo Mvuyelwa Mbeki is a South African political and public figure, President of the Republic of South Africa from June 14, 1999 to September 24, 2008.
He studied at the University of London as a part-time student.
Mr. Sam Thabo Mvuyelwa Mbeki enrolled at the University of Sussex in Brighton (the UK), where he received a Master's Degree in economics. Since December 1961 he worked as a secretary of the African Student Association
Since 1970 he studied in the USSR.
Later he worked as an ANC (African National Congress) operative in Zambia, Nigeria, Botswana, Mozambique and Swaziland.
In 1990 he returned to the Republic of South Africa, resigned from the Communist Party, but retained the post of the Head of the ANC International Department.
