Profession
A cadastral engineer is primarily engaged in land surveying. It includes determining the coordinates of the land plot boundaries, drawing up boundary plans, registration of documents necessary to secure ownership of land and its state registration. This is a relatively new profession, but it is already in high demand in the labor market due to the need for competent documentation related to the real estate ownership . Currently, the services of specialized specialists are required for the registration of documents confirming the ownership of a land plot. A cadastral engineer is both a surveyor, a land surveyor, and a designer: without his participation, the construction of buildings and roads cannot be launched, he is the core figure in conducting geodetic surveys and land management works. A cadastral engineer works with expensive modern measuring instruments, satellite navigation equipment. He must be good at information technologies, means of processing and presenting information and have legal knowledge of ensuring cadastral activities.
Educational Process
The bachelor’s degree program is based on students gaining knowledge and practical skills in using modern technologies to create land information systems, monitoring land resources, geodetic provision for land management and cadastral works using ground and satellite geodetic methods, the results of aerial and space surveys, unmanned aerial vehicles, laser scanning. The specificity and uniqueness of bachelor’s degree program consists of the effective interaction of the educational process, research activities and production process: specialized subjects are taught by honored scientists and practitioners in this field of knowledge. The production practice is carried out on the basis of the most advanced land management, cadastral, geodetic and appraisal companies and research organizations
Practice
After the first and second year, students undergo field practice, where they gain skills in working with modern geodetic equipment, master the technology of terrain survey, learn to control unmanned aerial vehicles and decipher materials of aerial and space surveys for operational land monitoring. After the third year, students are sent for a six-week internship in specialized industrial and scientific organizations, where they master the technologies of land management, cadastral and geodetic works on real objects. As a rule, the base of industrial practice becomes the first place of work for a future bachelor.
Career
Graduates who have studied the program successfully work as assistants to a cadastral engineer, land surveyors and engineers-surveyors in the offices of Rosreestr, territorial bodies of the cadastral service, organizations of the cadastral service of cities, divisions and structures of Rostekhinventarization of the Russian Federation, departments of architecture and urban planning, structures of the Federal Property Management Agency, geodetic and real estate firms, real estate valuation agencies, insurance companies, etc.
