Natural resources form the basis of a modern, effective development strategy in all countries. At the same time, there is a shortage of almost all types of resources: mineral, energy, biological, soil, water, and territorial. In addition, a huge problem is the ability to manage the available resources, protect them, and use them effectively and repeatedly on the basis of the laws of nature. The profession of ecologist is not only knowledge about nature, but also the basis for the socio-economic development of modern society. How to use natural resources correctly, without damaging our planet? How to preserve and multiply natural resources? How to stop the global pollution of our planet? What is the circular economy? All these and many other questions are addressed by our graduates — specialists with a degree in the field of “Natural Resources Management”.


Educational Process

From the first days of study at the bachelor’s degree program, students begin to understand the basics of natural resources management, get acquainted with professionals, conduct scientific research, including in various research institutes of the Russian Academy of Sciences, laboratories, and in production site. Study is conducted by highly qualified specialists at the international level.
In general, the Program is focused on the study of natural resources, their conservation and rational use. In the course of their studies, students gain knowledge in specialized disciplines, such as Environmentally safe land use, Natural Resource Management, Fundamentals of circular Economy in the context of sustainable development, GIS in ecology and nature management, Resource-saving technologies. The basic disciplines are not left out either: Ecology, Geology, Soil Science, Biology, Landscape Science, Foreign Language and etc., which allows expanding the horizons and training a professional ecologist on an international level.


Practice

The profession of ecologist allows understanding the structure and functioning of natural and technogenic ecosystems learn how to manage natural resources. Therefore, ecologists spend a lot of time in the field, collecting material, observing and systematizing natural objects of both organic and inorganic origin, studying changes in ecosystems in the distant past. In the process of training, starting from the first year, the students undergo both academic and professional internships. Training and production practices allow consolidating and deepening theoretical knowledge and gaining necessary competences.
Training practices take place in many regions of Russia — Central Russia, the Urals, the Crimea, the Caucasus, etc. Industrial internships acquaint students with the activities of ecologists in research, consulting, non-profit organizations and laboratories, government agencies at various levels, industrial enterprises. Because of the competence acquired in practice, students studying in the field of “Natural Resources Management” achieve high career growth in their professional activities.
