In ancient times, the treatment of dermatological diseases was given great importance. This is evidenced by documents confirming the vigorous activity of ancient people. And also, the skin is always seen, and it is impossible not to notice the skin diseases. Archaeologists have found documents of the ancient Egyptians dating back to 1,500 years ago B.C., which describes the methods of treatment of skin diseases.
In dermatovenereology, regular checkups are very important. Just by looking primarily at the patient there is a high probability that a specialist can give a primary diagnosis. Although, without additional diagnostics it is almost impossible to state the diagnosis.


Educational Process

From the first days of residency postgraduate students actively study their future profession: they practice on dermatological patients and participate in their examinations and try to make diagnoses. Many of these procedures residents perform independently under the control of experienced doctors. Postgraduate students also manage the patients that are in rehabilitations and patients in initial consultations.

Practice

Work in specialized medical and diagnostic departments, work in a polyclinic, participate in clinical consultations of the patients, scientific and practical conferences; fill medical records; perform diagnostics; examine patients. Postgraduate students visit the RUDN Simulation Taining Center equipped with phantom and simulation equipment which imitates medical interventions and manipulations. Also postgraduate doctors visit vivarium.


Career

Dermatovenerologist is a doctor with a narrow medical profile including diagnostics, treatments and prevention of skin and sexually transmitted diseases. Usually, dermatologists-venerologists take patients in specialized clinics, or in any other medical institutions equipped specifically for receiving such patients. Doctors examine the external and internal genitals of men and women, and the patient’s hair and nails which also the area of interest. Doctors of this medical profile help their patients to get rid of various serious diseases. That is why their work and achievements can hardly be overestimated. An experienced doctor of this medical profile is required to know the theoretical and clinical foundations of specialized disciplines, to determine the classification of sexually transmitted and skin diseases.
