Profession

The history of cardiology, like the history of medicine in general as a whole, has more than one thousand years. An understanding of the significance of the work of the heart for the body can be found in the ancient Egyptian papyrus of Ebers (XVII century BC): “The beginning of the secrets of a doctor is the knowledge of the heart’s course, from which blood vessels go to all members, for every doctor, every priest of the goddess Sohmet, every the caster, touching the head, nape, arms, palms, legs, touches the heart everywhere: vessels are directed from it to each member…”
Cardiology studies such pathological conditions as, hypertension, congenital heart defects, acquired heart defects, cerebrovascular diseases and others. Today, the proportion of cardiovascular diseases in the structure of mortality courses in developed countries is 40-60%, while the increasing оf incidence of young individuals is a major medical and social health problem.
The main task of a cardiologist is to make an accurate diagnosis, if necessary, conduct differential diagnosis between various diseases of the cardiovascular system. It is no secret that some diseases of the heart and blood vessels in their clinical manifestations, at first glance, are very similar. And only a cardiologist can focus on certain nuances that play a huge role in making the correct diagnosis.

From the first days of residency, residents actively recognize the future profession: they receive specialized patients, patients in the department, take part in medical and diagnostic manipulations, many of which are performed independently under the supervision of experienced doctors, manage the patients during rehabilitation and during initial visits, study most tolerable prescription individually for every patient.

A cardiologist is in demand at emergency medical stations and air ambulances as part of specialized cardiologic teams; in clinics, diagnostic centers; in cardiology departments of hospitals; cardiologic rehabilitation centers.
