X-ray methods have become leading diagnostic tools both in science and practice in a short period.
Radiography, fluoroscopy, CT provide valuable information about function and structure of many organs both in healthy and sick people, often without invasion into the body. So X-ray methods play a very important role in the diagnostics of various diseases. They allow to detect timely many pathologic conditions, including quite serious diseases, such as injuries, inflammations, tumors. Diagnostic radiology studies the whole organism, so that discipline and its methods may be considered as universal.


Educational Process

Residents describe diagnostic images of patients with certain diseases in the Clinic, take part in the diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, X-ray examinations, ultrasonography, MSCT, follow the primary and follow-up diagnostics of cancer patients, take part in consultations of the Heads of diagnostic departments.
Disciplines: Daignostic X-ray radiology, Hygiene in emergencies, Pedagogics, Public health and Healthcare, Microbiology, X-ray diagnostics, Ultrasonography and MSCT, Radionuclide tests, MRI.


Practice

There is a Scientific Circle on Oncology and Diagnostic Radiology for residents at the Chair of Oncology, the lectures are delivered, the residents take an active part at the International scientific events, the excursions to the Oncological Institute named after P.A. Herzen are conducted. Multi-media class functions at the Chair.


Career

At present Diagnostic Radiology is a very much demanded specialty in the modern medicine. Many corporations and establishments need specialists in that field, which is developing fast with increase if that need. Diagnostic radiologists work in the clinics surveying the health of employees, in outpatient departments, in hospitals, research institutes.
