Profession

A specialist in Regional Studies is an expert, analyst who studies a particular region, country or group of countries.
RUDN University trains specialists in China and the Arab East. Graduates have deep, versatile knowledge about the country of the studied region, work in various public and private organizations, solve problems related to these regions.

Educational Process

Under bachelor’s programme 41.03.01 “Foreign Studies: China, Arab East”, students study in depth the full range of disciplines related to the specialization region. It is complusory to learn two languages, one of which is the language of the region of specialization under the Foreign Studies field of study. Specialized courses are delivered for students not only by members of the RUDN University Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Faculty of Economics and Institute of Law, but also by leading experts from MGIMO University, Moscow State University Istitute of African and Asian Countries, Institute of the Far East of the Russian Academy of Sciences, etc.
Regional studies students have the opportunity to undergo a language internship at foreign universities the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences cooperates with: the University of Jordan (Amman, Jordan), Shandong University (Jinan, China), Dalian University of Foreign Studies (Dalian, China), Xi’an University of Foreign Studies (Xi’an, China), Xiamen University (Xiamen, China), Mohammed V University (Rabat, Morocco).

Practice

During the internship, students are attached to the libraries of the Institute of the Far East of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Institute of African Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, etc. to do their research.
Internships take place in leading private and state organizations of the Russian Federation (Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Rossotrudnichestvo, Federal Service of State Statistics (Rosstat), Russian Energy Agency, Ministry of Economic Development, Rosmolodezh, etc.), as well as in Russian and foreign media such as Russia Today, TASS, Xinhua, Russia 24, Regnum etc.
