Master’s graduates in World History and Mass Communication combine historical competencies in collecting, processing and producing information with journalistic competencies in the field of working with new technological tools. Master’s graduates are universal specialists for working in the editorial offices of multimedia outlets as they are able to produce professional content for various communication channels and specialize in historical, social and political issues.
Educational Process
The training process includes both subjects that deepen historical knowledge (Actual Problems of Historical Research, Interdisciplinary Approaches in Modern Historical Science, Ethnic and Confessional Conflict Studies, Essence and Contradictions of Post-Industrial Society in Western countries, Globalization in Asian, African, Latin American Countries, Eurasian Model of Integration, Political Culture of the East, etc.), and more practical subjects of journalism (Psychology of Mass Communication. Comprehensive Analysis of Information, Interaction with the Media (Media Relations), Media as Subjects of Politics, Multimedia Technologies, Search Engines and Databases on the Internet. Online Advertising).
Learning a foreign language (English, French, Spanish, German, Arabic, Chinese, Farsi) allows students to improve their level of language proficiency in a professional field.
Practice
Field-specific internships take place on TV channels or in the press service of the State Duma of the Russian Federation.
Teaching and research internships are held at the faculty, in the archives of research institutes of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
Career
Master’s graduates acquire not only the competencies required to work in the mass media industry as a universal correspondent, editor, build editor, columnist, etc., but also the analytical and scientific competencies required for an industry analyst, talk show host, scientific employee, teacher.
