Institutionalization of international relations as an area of scientific knowledge, which specifically studies the processes of interstate interactions and phenomena of world politics, came into sharp focus after World War I, when it became obvious that the interdependence of states acquired critical importance. Due to the fact that in 21st century international relations have become the most important factor in world development, knowledge of IR features and patterns has become especially in demand. Specialists who understand the trends in world politics development in general and specific issues of international relations are needed to work in public service, international business and research projects, international departments of trade and industrial corporations, and media.


Educational Process

Master’s students study modern conceptual approaches to solving foreign policy issues both in the regional and global dimensions. The specifics of solving international problems is trained within the framework of lecture courses, at scientific seminars, in the course of independent research work and teaching internship.
Disciplines: Megatrends and Global Problems, Eurasian Integration Model, Institutions of Global Governance, International Organizations, Legal Aspects of Global Political Processes, Analysis of International Situations, Theory of Diplomacy and Modern Diplomatic System, etc.
The learning process is organized so that it provides an opportunity to combine studies under the master’s programme with working in the specialty. Class time: 18.00-21.00. The training load averages 8-14 hours per week.


Practice

Business games in the format of modelling international situations enable master’s students to understand the specifics of the relationship between international organizations, get a visual representation of the dynamics of global political and economic processes. Substantive discussions about the specifics of the Russia's foreign policy formation allow students to gain skills in analysis, modelling and forecasting. Every year, master’s students complete internships in the international departments of large trade, industrial and media corporations, at universities, embassies and in departments for international and interregional cooperation of public authorities.


Career

Master’s graduates acquire knowledge required to be employed in international companies and corporations, state, interstate and non-governmental organizations, as well as in educational and research institutions. Successful completion of the programme enables master’s students to be employed as experts in world politics, diplomats, heads of international projects, and international journalists.
