Great changes which take place in international relations entail a new vision of historical processes, new approaches. All this directly affects the assessment of the ongoing events, relations between different countries and the development of new approaches to dealing with interstate relations. In this regard, new tasks arise in training highly qualified staff, specialists in their field. A specialist in international relations is distinguished by erudition, extensive knowledge in history, theory of international relations and world policy, mastery of foreign languages. Moreover, they have such qualities as communication skills and diplomatic manners.
Educational Process
During training, students acquire advanced knowledge of the general problems of modern global politics, international security, management of world processes; skills in applied analytics of an international political profile taking into account the needs of both government bodies and representatives of the private economic sector engaged in international activities. Special focus of the programme is laid on English, without which it is impossible to study primary sources and integrate into world science today.
Practice
Internships are completed at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Rossotrudnichestvo, Rosmolodezh, Roscosmos, Rosatom, Chamber of Commerce and Industry, UN Information Centre, representative offices of the President of the Russian Federation, Embassies and Missions of the CIS and non-CIS countries in the Russian Federation, research centres, etc.
Career
The number of jobs in which graduates of the department are employed include a diplomat, international expert, analyst, international journalist, lawyer, economist, manager.
Graduates of the department are employed in the central office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, embassies and consulates of Russia in the USA, Germany, Belgium, Denmark, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Romania, China, Egypt, Syria, Sudan, Lebanon, Morocco and other countries, diplomatic institutions of a number of foreign states, international organizations, commercial organizations, as well as in research centres and higher educational institutions in Russia and abroad.
